Cannabis is Legal in Minnesota
Minnesota legalized recreational cannabis for adults 21 and older. The state is regulated by the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM), which oversees licensing, compliance, and consumer safety.
At Twin Cities Green Dispensary, we're fully licensed to sell recreational cannabis products. We're committed to helping our customers understand and follow Minnesota's cannabis laws.
While cannabis is now legal, there are still important rules about where you can buy it, how much you can possess, and where you can consume it. Read on to understand the key regulations.

Where to Consume
Legal Consumption Locations
One of the most common questions we get at Twin Cities Green Dispensary is where you can legally consume cannabis. The short answer: private property only.
Public consumption is prohibited, including parks, sidewalks, restaurants, and bars. Smoking is also banned anywhere tobacco smoking is prohibited.
You CAN consume at:
- ✓ Your own home or property
- ✓ A private residence with owner permission
- ✓ Licensed cannabis consumption lounges (coming soon)
You CANNOT consume at:
- ✗ Public streets, parks, or sidewalks
- ✗ Bars, restaurants, or hotels (unless designated)
- ✗ Inside vehicles (even as passenger)
- ✗ Federal property or near schools
⚠️ Never Drive Under the Influence
Driving while impaired by cannabis is illegal in Minnesota and extremely dangerous. There is no "legal limit" like with alcohol—any impairment can result in a DUI.
If you consume cannabis, plan ahead. Use a rideshare, taxi, or designated driver. Cannabis can impair your driving for several hours after use.
The penalties are serious: fines, license suspension, and even jail time for repeat offenses.
